On November 15,2016, Great Aim Optical Communication Co., Ltd. stood out in the first International Advanced Semiconductor Innovation Competition and snatched the third spot in the enterprise team.
On November 15, under the guide and support of Torch High-tech Industry Development Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, Beijing Science & Technology Committee, Science & Technology Department of Guangdong, co-hosted by CASA and CSA, the first International Advanced Semiconductor Innovation Competition was successfully concluded at Beijing International Convention Center, with a theme of "Golden Semiconductor and Future of Innovation".
The awarding ceremony was held at the opening ceremony of the 13th China International Forum on Semiconductor Lighting. Winners of the competition were granted with trophies from leaders including Cao Jianlin, former vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Zheng Youliao, a professor with the School of Electronic Science and Engineering of Nanjing University and an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Shuji Nakamura, a professor with the material department of the School of Engineering of University of California Santa Barbara and the winner of Nobel Prize for Physics in 2014; Braham Ferreira, a professor with Delft University of Technology and chairman of IEEE Association; Ren Shuben, head of department of environment and resources of National Development and Reform Commission; Xu Zhiqiang, deputy director of National Energy Conservation Center; Warren Julian, a professor of Sydney University, and former vice chairman of New Zealand Lighting Engineering Society; Wu Ling, chairman of International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance and National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance; Wu Kongming, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineers and vice president of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Bai Rongchun, deputy director of National Energy Foundation and Management Standardization Technology Committee, deputy leader and inspector of the Energy Bureau of NDRC.
Cao Jianlin and Zheng Youliao attended the competition. Bai Guangqing, director of the Beijing Patent Examination Collaboration Center of the Patent Bureau of the State Intellectual Property Office, Cai Benrui, executive deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Liangxiang Higher Education Park of Beijing, Su Qingxin, vice president of XINOVALLC, Zhang Fan, senior vice president of China Asset Management attended the competition as experts in the judge panel for the final and scored and commented on the entries. Besides, 20 public judges from teams and alliances, enterprises, institutes of higher learning and research institutes made their online voting through the network system.
The competition comprised a 10-min road show and a 5-min debate. Each contestant staged a wonderful exhibition of their project for everyone.
Minister Cao Jianlin makes a speech
Minister Cao Jianlin said, the R&D, commercialization and development of advanced semiconductor industry have always been cared about and supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The competition is a very important measure of the Ministry of Science and Technology to support commercialization. Cao said that he has followed up the whole process of the competition.
Academician Zheng Youliao makes a speech
Zheng Youliao, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, said, the holding of the first International Advanced Semiconductor Innovation Competition was of great significance, for the advanced semiconductor technology is not a technology of sensing, or a technology of investment attracting, but a technology of innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition had a strong boosting effect for the development of semiconductor industry of the nation.
International competition: promoting international exchange and cooperation
The competition is an intense and wonderful professional competition in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition season of China. In the 7th China-Italy Innovation Cooperation Week of 2016, innovation spark was generated in the international exchange at the Italy area. Witnessed by representatives of investors and incubators of both countries, several scientific and technological innovation breakthroughs at home and abroad had been exhibited, which had promoted international exchange and cooperation.
In the semi-final and final, foreign teams competed via video connection. Innovative technology items at home and abroad competed with each other fiercely, which had a good interaction and exchange with domestic entries.
The competition has deeply explored, supported and promoted excellent advanced semiconductor innovation projects at home, attracted a lot of excellent international innovative technologies and projects to connect with industries of China and further integrated the advantaged resources of advanced semiconductor at home and abroad.
