On September 4, on the 15th China International Optoelectronics Exposition held in Shenzhen, an emerging communication technology was promoted, "Location Based Service white light communication technology", which received attention and praises from peers, experts and scholars at home and abroad. The technology was promoted and exhibited by Great Aim Optical Communication Co., Ltd., a subsidiary under Zhuhai Great Aim Group.
LED white light communication technology, also known as visible light communication. The mechanism is: Information to be transmitted is first compiled into a special signal, which is added onto the driving current of LED lamps with the method of pulse width modulation. The LED lamp then flickers at an extremely high frequency, which fulfills the purpose of transmitting the information with the lamp. Therefore, technicians has developed miners location system and indoor navigation system, etc. based on this mechanism, which boasts great technology and cost advantages compared with other indoor positioning systems. The technology is highly confidential, does not occupy wireless channels, and thus can be used extensively in a lot of fields.
To increase the dynamic force for "sustainable development" of the group, years ago, the group began to pay attention to high-tech industry. After repeated investigation and argumentation, on December 23, 2012, the group signed a cooperation agreement with National Key Lab for Semi-conductor Joint Innovation to accept the transfer of LED white light communication patented technology and march into the high-tech industry. On the expo, the group's person in charge told the reporter that since the technology is an emerging technology that has filled an international gap, to coordinate the commercialization of the technology, they were trying to do well in two areas. One was to negotiate with Internet giants at home and abroad and screen partners from them to apply the technology extensively in "miners location system" and "U-beacon indoor navigation system". The other was to strengthen the in-depth research and development of applied technology lengthways. As to the backstage for commercialization of the technology, a "White Light Communication Research Institute" has been established (which is chaired by Professor Zhang Guoqi, the originator of "Beyond Moore's Law", the former academician and openness & innovation senior supervisor of Dutch Philips Semi-conductor Lighting and now one member of the Thousand Talents Program launched by the Organization Department of Central Committee of CPC) to guarantee the development and application of the products.
It was introduced that during the early stage of the project, the group plans to invest 2 billion Yuan to build the headquarters of LED white light communication project in Hengqin New District. At present, the site selection has been completed. Before long, a national high-tech industrial town integrating office, R&D, incubation, exhibition & sales center, intellectual property trading center will rise in "Shizimen CBD" in Hengqin, Zhuhai.
